Do you have bay windows that you have to put wooden planks on? When I was renovating our house, we wanted to lay it with wood. But the process would cost us $400 just to lay our 2 bay windows.
This is what it should look like when its done by those timber guys :-
But we were on a tight budget, thus we went to look for alternative ideas. Again, we went to Ikea, and by chance, we saw these beautiful treated planks of wood.
I think they were doors to some wardrobes or something. This definitely look like something which we can use on our bay windows. It costs $10 a piece. So what we did was that we bought 4 pieces ($40sgd) and had our carpenter saw them into the correct length (the width was good) and lay them unto our bay windows. Each bay window used 2 pieces. And he had them glued up nicely and fitted to the area for us for free (we did some other carpentry work with him so he help us for free for this project).
The result:-
Amazing isn't it? It looks exactly like those that the timber people offer for $400sgd. But we did it with only $40sgd. That's savings of $360!
The only catch is that this wood is a bit thinner then the those offered outside. But if we are just going to sit on it, it really doesn't make a difference. At least not to me. Lol.
I hope this idea is useful to you as it is to me! :)
